The activity of the Hepatitis Unit is based on:
Diagnosis and Reference: The Hepatitis Unit offers Diagnosis/Referral services for viral hepatitis (tests offered at https://cnm-laboratorios.isciii.es/). For other tests, please contact the laboratory. The Hepatitis Unit is accredited by ENAC (2018) and participates in the WHO-European Laboratory Initiative (ELI) on TB, HIV and viral Hepatitis Core-Group.
Surveillance: The Hepatitis Unit, in close contact with the CNE and ECDC studies outbreaks of hepatitis A, B and C by participating in multicentre epidemiological studies at international level.
Research: Methodological development is carried out in the Unit to support the aforementioned activities (almost all of the molecular techniques used are self-developed). From 2022 onwards, the Unit will focus on massive sequencing and metagenomics studies.
