Research Infrastructures (RI) are European facilities whose goal is to facilitate networked research within the framework of the European Research Area. They concentrate knowledge and innovation and are located at the centre of the research-innovation-education triangle, having been recognised as one of the key aspects of European competitiveness, as they allow researchers to enhance their research through access to up-to-date and sophisticated services, which they would not be able to in any other way, as well as promoting the creation of international collaboration networks.
The ISCIII acts as a centralising and managing body for national participation, exercising representation, governance and decision-making in relation to Spanish participation in six of the European research infrastructures dedicated to biomedicine. Spain is firmly committed to these infrastructures and we find RIs with Spanish participation throughout the entire process of identifying and developing biomedical products.
Below is a list of key information on the different European research infrastructures in the field of biomedicine in which Spain participates. RIs provide services and resources to the research community to enhance their international visibility, structure the European research area and foster innovation. In order to use them efficiently, it is essential to clearly understand the focus of each of them and the services they offer, as well as their specific structure, procedures and get to know the contact points
