RELECOV
The National Network of Genomic Sequencing Laboratories for Surveillance of Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses (RELECOV) is a network formed after its approval by the Ponencia de Alertas y Planes de Preparación y Respuesta and by the Public Health Commission of the Interterritorial Council for the Integration of genomic sequencing in the surveillance of SARS-CoV-2, partially funded firstly under the umbrella of the HERA INCUBATOR program and secondly by the EU4H Program of the European Commission through the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC). The main objective is the surveillance of respiratory viruses through genomic sequencing. RELECOV is currently made up of 49 laboratories, distributed in all the autonomous communities and the two autonomous cities, and coordinated by Dr. Inmaculada Casas, head of the Respiratory Virus Reference Laboratory of the National Microbiology Center (CNM) of the Carlos III Health Institute (ISCIII). RELECOV carries out national surveillance of SARS-CoV-2, influenza and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) through viral detection and the integration of genomic sequencing to identify viruses that could have an impact on public health.
